Prompt
Double-tap Esc with an empty composer to edit your previous message — keep tapping to walk further back, Enter to fork a new branch from there. Codex CLI has a hidden fix for conversations that go off the rails: with an empty composer, double-tap Esc to enter edit mode on your last message. Keep hitting Esc to walk further back through the transcript. Edit the prompt where things went south and press Enter — Codex forks a new thread from that point and discards everything after. Implementation example: Esc Esc → edit previous message Esc Esc Esc ... → walk further back Enter → fork from this point
